Rotary's Proms Night Ends on High Note

British flags were flying high at a Last Night of the Proms concert in Huish Episcopi on Friday evening.
More than 100 music lovers attended the event, organised by the Rotary Club of Langport and Somerton, helping to raise £635 towards the organisation's international polio eradication campaign.
President of the Rotary Club of Langport and Somerton Jane Redfearn said: ''The event was really great. It went really, really well. There were more than 199 people there and over £500 was raised towards the Rotary's worldwide polio eradication campaign.''
The Phoenix Band of Crewkerne played a mixture of classical and modern music at the event.
Mrs Redfearn said: ''The music played by the Phoenix Band of Crewkerne was fantastic it was a lovely mix. Obviously we finsished with Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. It was a really good evening and we hope members of the community who attended it enjoyed themselves.''
The organisers were also pleased as more people attended the year's event than the first one last year.
Money was raised from sales of tickets. refreshments, programmes and flags as well as a bingo draw.
