Reflecting on the Regionals 2009

The Torquay Area contest once again proved to be a very enjoyable day for the band. With an early start for a rehearsal at 8.45 we met at a Torquay hotel. I am sure the guests will have been thrilled to be woken up by a brass band rehearsaing downstairs before 9!

The band performed Dan Price's New World Sketches and although we were slightly disappointed to only have come 7th it was felt by all that the band put on a good performance of the piece and there were many positive comments from listeners.

It was the first contest for a couple of our newer members Kay and Gordon on cornet and Myra and Dan on percussion. We hope you enjoyed the day and are lookign forward to the next contest.

With preparations now underway for the Weston Super-mare contest on the 17th May we are pleased to add another two members to our ranks, Will on bass and Steve on baritone.

Thanks to all those who supported us at the Area contest, we hope to see you at Weston in May.
