Happy New Year

Happy New Year and welcome to 2014. Here's hoping that this year will be a successful one for Phoenix as we have many things planned for the next 12 months.

What's New?

In the few weeks before Christmas the band were busy playing Christmas carols in various locations in and around Crewkerne.Thanks to anyone who came to listen to the band or made a donation. A huge thanks must also go to Suzanne, Graham, Simon and all of the staff at Waitrose in Crewkerne for allowing the band to play in the store and making us feel so welcome.

One Out, One In

It seems like only a few weeks ago I was writing about our new found MD, but sadly I have to report that Sam has been offered a promotion in the Marines and has since moved onto pastures new. We wish Sam and Claire all the very best for the future and would like to thank Sam for all of his hard work and dedication he put into the band in the few months he was with us.

Thankfully we are pleased to report that we have a friend of the band coming in to prepare us for the Area contest in Torquay in March. Adam Glynn, formally conductor of Weymouth Concert Brass, has offered to step into the role of MD for the next few months to take us to the contest. I am sure Adam will help get us into good shape for the contest, roll on our first reherasal with Adam tomorrow evening.

What's Planned for 2014?

We will be updating the band diary soon, so watch this space but one new event which we will be shouting about soon is a brass workshop which we will be running in conjunction with John Packer music shop, Taunton. We have David Thornton booked to help run a brass band workshop on Sunday 25th May which is a date you must put in your diary. More details will be coming in the next few days.
