Help Needed with Band History

We're looking to document the history of bands in Crewkerne and we're in need of help from any local historians who can help gather information about the bands past.

We have compiled a very short timeline documenting the bands recent history since it was re-formed in 1995, but we would like to document our earlier history.

Brass bands have been a part of Crewkerne since the early part of the 20th century, and at one point there were in fact two brass bands, Crewkerne Concert Brass and Crewkerne Town Band. Phoenix was formed after both the town bands had folded, but we still have and use the music and some of the instruments we inherited from the old bands ... we even have a few of the old players still playing with us.

Can You Help?

Researching and documenting the old band history is going to be a time consuming task so we're calling out for help from the local community to see if there is anyone who can spare us some time to investigate this with us.

Even if you have just a few old stories about the band playing in Crewkerne, or even better, you have some old photos or video of the band(s) we would love to see these so we can include them on the website.
