New Conductor Appointed

The band are pleased to announce that we have found and appointed a new conductor, David Boorer.

David took up music at the relatively late age of 14 when his music teacher suggested he took up the bassoon. At 16 David joined the Royal Marines Band Service and, following 3 years of training, joined his first Royal Marine Band.

There then followed a thirty-year playing career that has seen him perform as an instrumentalist in major venues nationally and internationally as well as a soloist onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.

David took up conducting 3 years ago when he was stationed near Rickmansworth and discovered a new passion outside playing.

David lives in Tiverton. He has two teenage boys’, Lewis and Matt, who ultimately know more than he does about everything. He likes to read, run, drink good coffee and is a professional relaxer!
