Final Preparations for Torquay Contest

For the past few weeks the band has been busy rehearsing in preparation for this weekend's SWBBA contest in Torquay. We will be competing in the 2nd section at the 63rd Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association being held at The Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay.

The test piece for the 2nd section is "The Aeronauts" by Goff Richards, which was commissioned in 1978 as the Championship Test Piece for The West of England Bandsman's Festival at Bugle. This will be the first time that Phoenix have contested this piece.

New Cornet Player

We have one new face to welcome to the band, Janice Coath, who will be contesting with us on Repiano Cornet for the first time. Janice has been with the band since the summer, but this will be her first experience contesting with us. Welcome to the band and best of luck.
