Welcome Back to the Band No. 1

With the start of the New Year bring the Players back to the Bandroom and to start rehearsing for the 2011 Regionals 13/03/2011.

We are playing one of the most iconic pieces of music ever written for Brass Bands – Resurgam.

This was written by Eric Ball and is very well known and is a favourite with every Bands person across the whole world. Or I thought it was.

Unfortunately we have some players within our Band that haven’t even heard of the piece.

This I could not believe until some bright spark advised me that these players weren’t even born when I played it some years ago. I couldn’t play it then either!. (Hope the Conductor doesn’t read this)

We have started sectionals and these will be on-going over the next few weeks until every player can bluff, I mean, play their own part well enough to help Phoenix Brass get the result they are looking for, being First, and a trip to the National Finals again. It will be hard work but this is what is required if you want to be the best. There are too many good Bands in our Section, not to put the work in.

A big thank you must go to our Conductor Dave Hatton, as he broke his leg some time ago and has only just got rid of his leg brace but is first in the Bandroom at every rehearsal, or it might be down to his Wife being heavy on the accelerator!
